Carrot River Project
The Carrot River Project is located in Northeast Manitoba in an area associated with known gold-silver occurrences, and is considered a multi-metal property. In 1998 alone there were 4 new gold discoveries made in the surrounding area.
- 15 contiguous mining claims, 3,073 hectares in area, located in the Carrot River Belt – 140 km southeast from the mining centre of Thompson, Manitoba.
- The Carrot River belt belongs to an east-west system of greenstone belts extending for over 250 km across the Gods Lake Geological Domain in North West Manitoba where a number of gold deposited have been located, including the past Gods Lake Mine Monument Bay and Stull Lake Deposits.
- The setting of the gold mineralization on the Carrot River property is similar to many structurally controlled, mesothermal, lode-vein, Archan age, gold deposits, such as in Timmins and Red Lake.
- Five new significant gold discoveries made on the property in 1998 (Levelland Energy and Resources Ltd.) with samples returning values up to 15.6 g/t gold and 310 g/t silver.
- Past exploration on the property in the mid-1950s (HBM), 1972-73 (Canex Placer Limited) and 1984-85 (Westmin Resources Ltd.) also suggests the presence of VMS copper-zinc and ultramafic hosted nickel deposits.
- April 2008, Geotech Ltd. completed an airborne geophysical survey and carried out a Versatile Time-Domain Electromagnetic (VTEM) survey. A number of EM anomaly groupings were identified across the property with various targets.
- Primary targets – gold and base metals deposits.
- Property optioned to Cassius Ventures Ltd. Drilling expected to commence February-March 2011.
